ILSA's natural triancontanol for more effective and sustainable fertilizers and biostimulants

23/12/2019

(Vicenza, Italy). TRIACON 5000 is a product by ILSA that is intended for the industry. It comprises of 5000 mg/kg of triacontanol of natural origin. Its development is attributed to the collaboration between the ILSA Research Centre and external scientific partners who believed in the potential of natural triacontanol as a stimulant of primary and secondary metabolism of vegetables, and also as an alternative to synthetic triacontanol, which is used extensively in the market. For its production, ILSA has perfected its enzymatic hydrolysis and extraction in supercritical CO2 processes. ILSA is the only company in the world to have combined these two extraction techniques to produce technical means for agriculture.

TRIACON 5000 has been devised for global producers of fertilizers and biostimulants committed to the ILSA's philosophy: "To give less to have more" that means promoting innovative products that are efficient, enhance quality and yield even at low dosages and in stressful situations. TRIACON 5000 can be used as a mixture in a wide range of formulations available in the market (for example, products based on urea phosphate, fleshings, ammonium nitrate, iron chelate etc.).

Tests carried out on tomatoes (tables 1 and 2) with TRIACON 5000 in combination with mineral fertilizers revealed a doubled production at the same dosage. In fact, by supplying plants with fertilizers enriched with TRIACON 5000, besides administering nutrients, they induce several positive effects on the primary and secondary metabolism of plants.

In particular, it favours the absorption of nutrients present in the soil, increases the plant’s photosynthetic capacity and protein synthesis and improves the response to stress, guaranteeing optimal productions in terms of quantity and quality, even in conditions that are not optimal.

The production of TRIACON 5000 is in compliance with high sustainability standards: it is produced using GMO free alfalfa (Medicago sativa) cultivated in Italy by selected organic farms and in accordance with specific indications of ILSA. Furthermore, the industrial processes through which TRIACON 5000 is obtained, the Fully Controlled Enzymatic Hydrolysis (FCEH®) as well as the Supercritical CO2 Fluid Extraction (SFE®), are recognized to have a low environmental impact because they drastically reduce emissions into the atmosphere and waste production.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the institution that deals with the regulation of food and pharmaceutical products, has granted the GRASGenerally Recognized As Safe attribute to the SFE® even in the food sector. The triacontanol concentrate obtained by ILSA is microbiologically stable; therefore, it doesn’t require any preservative which could compromise its activity.
Owing to its stability, TRIACON 5000 is miscible with all the common formulations used for producing biostimulants and fertilizers. Today, TRIACON 5000, is the key ingredient for those who, like ILSA, are keen to produce the fertilizers of tomorrow, characterized by high efficiency, low dosages and great sustainability.
