Visits at the vineyards - ILSA's commitment to the quality of Prosecco and Amarone

10/07/2020

Between August and September, ILSA is extending invites to visit its experimental fields in the vineyards located in historic regions of Prosecco and Amarone production. Reserved to agricultural technicians and wine growers, the visits aim to show the contribution of ILSA’s foliar fertilizers and natural bio-stimulants to the improvement of wine production.

(Arzignano, VI). For over twenty years, ILSA has been organising experimental fields in the most renowned areas for the production of grapes and wine throughout Italy, with the aim to demonstrate the effect of its products to agronomists and farmers (Fig. 1). The fields are always organised at the most authoritative wineries, based in different areas of Italy.

The applications of ILSA products are performed by the winemakers themselves, with agricultural inputs supplied by the company and under the supervision of ILSA’s agronomists.

This year, six experimental fields have been set up between the provinces of Treviso and Verona, in the area of the Valpolicella classic where Amarone, Valpolicella and Valpolicella Ripasso are produced. Specifically, at the Casal di Boscaini Dario and Rossato winery in San Pietro in Cariano, the Pellegrini farm of Aldo Pellegrini in Sant’Ambrogio di Valpolicella and the Bruno Minotto farm in the d.o.c. area in Custoza, Sona.

The use of special foliar fertilisers associated with biostimulants is already showing the first evidence of positives; there is a better vegetative development (photo 2), a greater elongation of the cluster spine (photo 3) and a more uniform development of the berries (photo 4 ).

Three other experimental fields have been organised between the provinces of Treviso and Pordenone. In particular, the Prosecco Classico area at the Follador winery at Farra di Soligo and at the Sui Nui farm in Valdobbiadene. The third is at the Casagrande winery in Caneva, in the province of Pordenone, on Pinot and Chardonnay grapes.

In these fields, the use of special fertilisers and bio-stimulants was focused on the goal of improving the quality of grapes and it has just started with the first applications.

Visits to the vineyards

Between mid-August and early September, when the effects of the application of Ilsa’s products will be more evident, two guided field visits for technicians and farmers will be organized: one in the province of Verona and one between the provinces of Treviso and Pordenone.

The visits will be conducted by Marta Magnano, an agronomist at ILSA who specialises in wine-growing and enological technologies and who will present the test protocols (products used, dosages and dates of application) and the results, accompanied by a technical discussion.

To take part to the visits and to receive all the technical updates related to viticulture, register on the ILSA website at https://www.ilsagroup.com/en/registrazione/ ticking vine among the crops of interest.
